Your serve receive isn't broken because your kids can't pass. It's broken because they never see game-speed serves until game day. Here's the fix.

Stop peppering. Start passing NOW

Warm-up pepper is passing junk food. It grooves flat platforms against soft, predictable balls — the exact opposite of what a jump-float does to you on Friday night.

Three changes that actually move the number

  1. Serve at your passers every day. Not underhand. Not standing float from ten feet. Real serves, full distance.
  2. Score everything. A pass is a 3, 2, 1, or 0. If you don't chart it, the kids know it doesn't count.
  3. Shrink the seam conversations. Most shanks are seam balls nobody called. Make "mine/yours" louder than the serve.

The two-week test

Chart your team's passer rating today, run the 20-serve standard for two weeks, and chart again. If you don't gain at least three perfect passes per 20, email me and I'll buy you a coffee.
